TERRE HAUTE, Ind – Terre Haute Police officer was shot and killed while investigating a homicide earlier today on South 18th Street.
An unidentified male was shot and killed.
Officers went to the Garden Quarter Apartments searching for a suspect.
That is when the suspect shot the Terre Haute Police Officer who was taken to Regional Hospital where he later died.
Early reports indicated that the suspect barricaded himself in the apartment, a woman in that apartment left and then a short time later the suspect was apprehended by police.
At some point the suspect was shot and died.
Police are in the early stages of their investigations at two crime scenes.

During the exchange of gun fire the suspect was also shot.
That suspect barricaded himself in an apartment and died.
TERRE HAUTE, Ind – A Terre Haute Police officer has been shot and killed in southern Vigo County.
It incident started earlier today with a homicide investigation on South 18th Street in Terre Haute.
Officers then went to the Garden Quarter Apartments near Ivy Tech which is where the officer shot. He was taken to Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect has reportedly barricaded and is armed with a rifle.
