Three Inured, Flown To Hospitals, When Log Truck Hits Pickup

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Vermillion County Deputies were called Monday night to a crash at SR 63 and 800 S near Hillsdale involving a Semi tractor trailer hauling logs and a pickup.

Police say that three passengers of the pickup, 42-year-old Mellisa Evol Hillsdale was flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, two and juveniles ages 11 and 13, were flown to Riley’s Children Hospital in Indianapolis for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup, 35-year-old Jacqueline Baldwin of Hillsdale and the driver of the Semi-tractor/trailer, 55-year-old Clinton Barnett of Wisconsin had no apparent or reported signs of injury and refused treatment.

Police say that Baldwin, the driver of the pickup, was turning east from the southbound lanes of SR 63 and crossed the northbound lanes in front of the semi.

The investigation is on-going.
