VIGO COUNTY, Ind – An Indianapolis man is claiming self-defense in connection with a fatal shooting at a party during Indiana State University homecoming festivities in 2015.

21 year old Khalil Davis faces two felony counts of criminal recklessness for allegedly firing two handguns outside a house on South 13½ Street during a party.

Witnesses reported gunfire erupted from multiple shooters, and 18 year old Donovan Clinkscales, of Indianapolis, was found unresponsive in an open lot near the party and was later pronounced dead at Union Hospital.

Police then located Davis, who had two handguns tucked into the waistband of his pants. One of those guns was later found to be stolen.

Davis is not charged with shooting anyone.

After a hearing Monday he now has a trial date of February 26th.

He remains in the Vigo County Jail with bond set at $25,000, cash only.
