VIGO COUNTY, Ind Indiana State Police Trooper Rondell Shelton was on routine patrol Thursday night just after 8 p.m. in the area of US 41 and 7th Street Terre Haute, when he was flagged down.

The person said that there was a “man down” on the shoulder of southbound US 41just south of 7th Street, which was south of Trooper Shelton’s location.

Trooper Shelton arrived within seconds, noticed other bystanders performing CPR on the unconscious male

Trooper Shelton used the AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in that troopers carry in their car to aid the person.

After the initial shock from the device, the victim’s pulse and breathing were restored.

The 41-year-old man was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment and is reportedly doing well.

The victim was apparently on his way to a nearby business when he collapsed.
