VERILLION COUNTY, Ind – Saturday night just  before midnight a Vermillion County Deputy found a John Deere front loader overturned in a ditch just north of Highway 36 on St. Rd. 71 in Dana. The tractor was unoccupied and still running. Police say that the tractor had been stolen from Mid-State Ag just south of Dana.

While waiting for a tow truck to arrive on scene, a pickup driven by 21 year old Austin William Freund of Marshall, Indiana pulled up.

Parke County Deputies said earlier that a truck matching the one driven by Freund had been stolen from Marshall earlier in the day. He told police that he had stolen the truck from his boss around 5:00 PM that day. He was arrested for possession of the stolen vehicle and is being held on $10,000 bond.

While deputies were working to clean up the tractor accident, they were called about a man attempting to steal a dirt bike from a residence in Dana. Police found 30 year old Joshua Tyler Nickels of Dana close to that residence and it was found that he was wanted on a Parke County Warrant and was arrested.
