Two Arrested Sunday During Burglary Of Sullivan County Home

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind – Sullivan County Police arrested two people Sunday evening while breaking into a Carlisle home.

Around 7:20 PM Sullivan County 911 dispatch received a call of a burglary in progress, in the 4500 block of S. County Rd. 425 East.

When the property owner came to the residence, he reported hearing strange noises coming from his basement.

Police found 26-year-old Nathaniel Lancaster of Linton, and 30 year old Jessica Peterson of Sullivan, trying to escape out the basement door.

Officers say that the suspects were in the process of loading up their vehicle with items, including cash, jewelry and other items.

Police say that the pair had parked their car inside the garage of the residence and closed the overhead door, so they wouldn’t be detected.

Lancaster was carrying a loaded handgun and marijuana.

Nathaniel Lancaster was charged with:

 

Burglary, while armed with a deadly weapon – a Level 2 Felony

Theft – Level 6 Felony

Possession of handgun without a permit – a Class A misdemeanor

Possession of Marijuana – a Class A misdemeanor

His bond is $56,000. with 10% allowed.

Jessica Peterson

 

Jessica Peterson was charged with:

Burglary – a Level 5 Felony

Theft – Level 6 Felony

Her bond is $23,000 with 10% allowed.

 

Both remained in the Sullivan County Jail Monday morning.
