Two Sent To Hospital After Car Collides With Semi-Trailer

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind – Two people were injured after a car slid through a stop sign and hit a semi tractor-trailer near Farmersburg last night.

It happened just before 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of US 41 and Sawmill Road.

Police say that the truck driven by 50-year-old Jeffrey D. Rocca of Indianapolis, was northbound, when the westbound passenger car, being driven by 28-year-old James R. Galbraith Jr. of Farmersburg, failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection and collided with the undercarriage portion of the semi-trailer.

Galbraith had to be cut from his car.

Both drivers were taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Rocca was listed in fair condition while Galbraith was listed in critical condition.

No citations have been issued at this time and police continue to investigate.
