VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Sunday afternoon around 2:00 p.m., Vigo County Deputies were called to a possible drowning on south Daniel Street in southeastern Vigo County.

Deputies and Riley Fire Department personnel found that two children, ages 20 months and two years old had apparently fallen into a lake behind the residence.

Two year old Isabella Ellington died at a Terre Haute hospital.

The other female child was transported to an Indianapolis hospital.

The mother of the children,  Paige Ellington told News 10 that the two small children were playing outside and being watched by a group of teens. The teens averted their attention for a moment when the small children disappeared. The teens then alerted the parents.

Isabella’s organs will be donated.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources are continuing their investigation.
