VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Around 2 a.m. Wednesday, Vermillion county deputies noticed an individual on a bicycle at the intersection of Fourth and Kibby Street in Fairview Park.

The man was identified as 38 year old Lucas A. Sanders of Clinton.

Officers noticed indicators of illegal activity and during a pat-down search Lucas struck the officer and fled on foot.

Eventually Lucas was taken into custody after he fell during short foot chase.

He was then taken to the Vermillion count jail.

Deputy Keith Warner received injuries from a fall during the foot pursuit.
