Vigo Council Passes Food And Beverage Tax

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Monday afternoon the Vigo County Council  passed the food and beverage tax that will take effect this fall on September 1st.

The vote was unanimous.

The 1% tax is expected to generate close to $2 million annually and will apply to food and drinks purchased at restaurants in Vigo County.

The proceeds of the tax will be used to pay for the construction and operation of a convention center.
