Vigo County Looking To Hire New Jailers

VIGO COUNTY, Ind.  – The Vigo County Council has approved the funds to hire 24 new staffers for the Vigo County Jail.

It’s agreed that with overcrowding problems and the design of the jail, the extra help is much needed.

Vigo County Sheriff Gregg Ewing says by adding staff members it will help get inmates their required recreation time and increase jail safety by having enough officers to attend to all of the duties that must be fulfilled.

None of those problems will be addressed until people are hired for those new positions and they are trained.
