VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Vigo County officials are picking up the pieces after a computer attack.

Officials say that the county has backup data storage through several computer vendors and has been able to recover data.

As of Wednesday afternoon computer experts were working to get computer systems back in full operation.

County Commissioner Brendan Kearns told us Wednesday afternoon that as of now they believe that not personal information was compromised or released.

It is estimated that things could be recovered and back to normal by the first of next week.

The attack has been reported to the Indiana State Police and to the Indiana Secretary of State’s office.

It is believed that the attack occurred through an email sent to a county court employee on their official email.
