Vigo Officials Have A Few More Days To Respond

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Vigo County officials have been given a 15 day extension by a federal judge to respond to a motion by inmates’ attorneys in the federal, class-action lawsuit.

The suit alleges conditions at the county jail are unconstitutional and asks for a partial summary judgment to compel Vigo County officials to report every 30 days on progress in finalizing plans for a new county jail or alternate plans

Attorneys for the Vigo County Board of Commissioners, County Council and Sheriff Greg Ewing have been given until August 3rd to reply.

The Vigo County Council has filed notice of an executive session to be held Wednesday at the Vigo County Annex to discuss the federal litigation.
