TERRE HAUTE, Ind – The Vigo County School Board will meet tonight and will likely act on the proposed $4 million in spending cuts and $1.5 million in revenue enhancements.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. in the administration building, 686 Wabash Avenue.

That overall spending reduction plan calls for three fewer elementary schools, selling the downtown administration building, cutting pay for top central office administrators and a redesign of alternative education.

The board could adjust the proposed plan before passage.

The administration says that a decline in the corporation’s cash balance and other financial challenges including falling enrollment make the changes necessary.

Prior to the regular meeting, the board will conduct an organizational meeting to elect officers and approve a calendar of meetings for 2020.
