VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – At Monday night’s Vigo County School Board meeting, sex education was a main topic of discussion. While some parents see no problem with the current curriculum, others want a review and improvements.

Monday night multiple people stood in front of the Vigo County School Board to talk about how they feel about the corporations’ sex education.

State law does not require sex education in schools but say that if it is taught, abstinence must be the focus.

In the end, the board approved forming a committee made up of three board members to investigate that curriculum, how its taught, how students receive it, and other alternative educations that could be implemented.

The board also approved a strategic plan for 2020-25,

That plan includes many things such as facilities, technology, fiscal planning and more.

The plan seeks to address declining enrollment and what will be done to address problems with the three county high school buildings.
