Well-being Check Leads To Saturday Arrest In Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Ind – Around 6:30 Saturday evening Clay County Deputies were called to assist a family with a welfare check on an individual in the western part of the county along SR 340.

It was reported that this person was acting erratically, walking into the highway, and throwing objects at moving vehicles.

When officers arrived the man became very agitated.

Deputies became aware that the man had an active warrant out for his arrest from Clay County court.

When deputies tried to make the arrest the suspect lunged at officers striking them several times in the head and face.

After a lengthy struggle the officers were able to arrest the suspect.

During the altercation two of the officer suffered minor injuries and were taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital for further observation.

A name of the person was not released but police say that more details will be released on Monday.
