VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – A Vigo County man who abducted his wife and then held police at bay in a standoff for several hours was sentenced in court Wednesday.

Police say that 22-year-old Kyle Mulkins kidnapped his wife from Harold Beauty Academy in August of last year and then took her to his home in Farmersburg and held her there for several hours.

Mulkins was sentenced to five years on work release, followed by four years of probation after pleading guilty to criminal confinement. He is also to have no contact with the victim during this time.

The judge allowed work release so that Mulkins can continue to earn money to support his children.
