Slick Roads Cause Problems During Thursday Morning Commute

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind – Slick roads and black ice was the cause of many accidents between U.S.231 and Indianapolis Thursday morning.

I-70 was closed for a while as Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) trucks spread salt to try and melt the ice.

A pedestrian was struck in the westbound lanes of I-70 near Holt Road after leaving their vehicle due to being involved in another crash.

The incident happened around 8:45 a.m.

The victim was alert and conscious before being taken to the hospital. The nature of their injuries was not immediately available.

The worst of the crashes was a 14-car pileup on westbound I-70 just before Holt Road. It had multiple lanes shut down throughout the morning.

More than a dozen crashes were reported on the interstates.
