School Corporation May Sue Former Employees

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – At Monday’s Vigo County School Board meeting the board will discuss taking legal action to recover money taken in a kickback scheme by former employees Franklin Fennell and Frank Shahadey.

The two were able to take over $80,000 dollars from the school system by submitting inflated invoices and taking the excess.

Fennell was convicted of wire fraud and theft and will be sentenced April 19th.

Shahadey pleaded guilty to wire fraud and theft as part of a plea deal and was sentenced to 16 months in prison and two years of supervised released.

As of now no charges have been filed against Mike Pick who was the vendor that submitted the invoices but did cooperate with the police investigation.

The starts at 6 p.m. in the administration building on Wabash Ave.
