City Council To Talk About Party Ordinance

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A hot topic at Thursday evenings Terre Haute City Council meeting will likely be the dance party ordinance.

Several who were ticketed for allegedly being in violation of that ordinance will likely be in attendance.

The ordinance that was passed last year by the Terre Haute City Council states that anyone hosting a dance or allowing a dance party on their property without a permit or liability insurance can be cited.

The ordinance was mainly aimed at those who were charging admission and not making proper security or safety plans.

Some have claimed that private parties have been cites.

Terre Haute Police promoted the ordinance after several parties in town turned violent and gun shots were fired.

Terre Haute Police Chief, John Plassee is expected to be in attendance at the council meeting and address the issue.
