Autopsy Complete On Fallen Terre Haute Police Officer

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – An autopsy was completed Saturday on fallen Terre Haute Police Officer Rob Pitts. The autopsy was performed by Pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Vigo County Coroner Dr. Susan Amos has released the preliminary results as; cause of death was single gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death as homicide. Police say that currently no other information will be released.

Officer Pitts was killed during an exchange of gunfire with a possible homicide suspect Friday evening around 6:30 p.m. at the Garden Quarter Apartments.

The homicide suspect autopsy is expected to be performed this coming Monday, May 07, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Police say that upon completion, the name of the suspect is expected to be released.

Indiana State Police are continuing to investigate the death of Officer Pitts and the suspect. At the conclusion of the ISP investigation, all information will be submitted to the Office of Vigo County Prosecutor Terry Modesitt for review.
