VIGO COUNTY, Ind – The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that they are receiving numerous calls from citizens reporting a variety of new scam calls.

Some of the most recent callers claiming to be associated with Publisher’s Clearing House, Craig’s List home listing, and calls involving illegal use of Social Security Cards.  There has also been a report of someone canvassing neighborhoods in Southern Vigo County wanting to perform driveway sealing to be performed by a business that was not real.

There also continue to be calls from those stating they are with the IRS and United Health Care asking for citizens to purchase pre-paid cards in exchange for larger sums of money.

Remember to verify all calls before providing personal information, don’t purchase pre-paid credit and debit cards in exchange for larger sums of money, and verify the reputation of businesses.
