Wabash Valley Counties Take Eight Of Top Ten Spots On Unemployment List

INDIANA – County by county unemployment figures have been released by the state and unfortunately counties in the Wabash Valley remain at the top taking eight of the top ten positions.

Vermillion County has the highest unemployment in the state at 5.8% followed by Putnam County at 5.6%, then Clay County at 5.3% and Owen County rounding out the top four at 5.2%.

Sullivan County is seventh highest in the state at 4.8%, Green County is next at 4.7% followed by Vigo County also at 4.7% and Parke County is tenth highest at 4.4%.

The lowest unemployment in the state is in Elkhart County at 2.6%.

The state average is 3.5%.
