Driver Sent To Indianapolis Hospital After Friday Morning Crash

SULLIVAN, Ind – Sullivan County Deputies were called to a car/ semi tractor-trailer crash at US 41 and Wolfe Street early Friday morning.

Police say that around 9:15 AM, 71 year old Thomas Bryant of Shelburn suffered a medical condition while leaving the McDonald’s drive-thru. Witnesses reports seeing his vehicle suddenly accelerate, before traveling through a fence, and into the path of an eastbound semi tractor-trailer.

The truck was carrying a load of grain to a local elevator.

Bryant was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital, and was last listed in critical condition.

The semi driver, 64 year old James Urfer of Willow Hill, Illinois,  was not injured.
