PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind – A truck stolen out of Indianapolis was recovered Saturday on US40 East of US231. Putnam County Deputies say that the thief left the scene before law enforcement were able to arrive.

Police believe that the driver lost control of the vehicle while skidding down US40 and then got stuck in the median.

Officers say that it’s tough to see at the angle of the provided picture, but three of the four tires were buried in the soft ground. Because the criminal didn’t know how to engage the 4-wheel-drive system he or she was forced to flee on foot.

The suspect has not yet been located yet.

Deputies say that an observant neighbor called Law Enforcement about this vehicle being partially in the roadway.
