VINCENNES , Ind – Wednesday afternoon around 2:00 PM, a Vincennes Police officer spotted a vehicle that was believed to have been used in a felony earlier in the day.

The officer tried to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop and sped off leading police on a chase.

A passenger in the vehicle attempted to get out on a few occasions before finally making it out and then was taken into custody.

The pursuit continued until the vehicle left the roadway and crashed, coming to rest in a creek near a bridge.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Officers began first aid the person was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect’s name is not currently being released due to the pending notification of next of kin.
