VIGO COUNTY, Ind.  – At Monday nights Vigo County School Board meeting officials announced that they will  open the Aquatic Center to the public three times per week for lap swimming.

They are expecting to announce the dates they will start allowing the lap swim to the public in January.

The decision to open the pool comes after the Vigo County YMCA closed their pool earlier this year.

Exact days and times have not been set.

Officials say that they will look at school and student needs and see what is available.

They do expect to charge a small fee to use the pool that would help to cover expenses including lifeguards.

The fee hasn’t been officially set yet, but they’re thinking $5.
