Man Accused Of Stealing From Former Employer’s Home

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Vermillion County Police say that Sunday a burglary was reported at a residence on CR 300 West near CR 1000 North.  Later in the day the victim went to Danville, IL. and spotted a pickup truck in the parking lot of a Wal-Greens with his stolen items in the bed.

The victim called police and gave them the plate number of the truck which was registered to 31 year old Joseph Holycross of Oakwood, Ill.

Holycross was a former employee of the victim.

A Vermillion County Deputy made contact with Holycross, but he refused to cooperate with the investigation.

Shortly after Holycross contacted the victim and agreed to return the stolen items.

When Holycross arrived at the victim’s residence, he was taken into custody.

During a search of Holycross’ truck, drug items were found.

Also during the investigation it was found that Holycross had already taken two other truckloads of stolen items from the residence.

Holycross was booked into the Vermillion County Jail with a $25,000 cash bond.
