Dash Cam Video Shows Robinson Officer Saving Man From House Fire

ROBINSON, Ill – On New Year’s Eve Robinson Police Department officer Nathaniel Nicklaus came upon a house fire and shortly after arriving he found a man lying near the backdoor, severely burned.

Officer Nicklaus called in the fire and drug the man across the street to safety and waited for medical care to arrive.

On Thursday afternoon the department shared video of the scene from Officer Nicklaus’ dash-cam in his squad car.

In the video you can see the officer dragging the victim to safety.

 

The victim was identified at 64-year-old Carl Tarwater.  He is being treated for burns at an Indianapolis Hospital.

Police say that Tarwater told the officer that he was lighting a propane heater when it exploded.
