Not Much Support To Increase Cigarette Tax Or Legalize Marijuana

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind  — Attempts in Indiana to increase the state cigarette tax and legalize some marijuana use is anything but certain.

Anti-smoking groups and business leaders aren’t finding much support in the state legislature to triple the cigarette tax to nearly $3 a pack.

Bills are pending to allow medical or recreational marijuana use in Indiana.

It doesn’t seem lawmakers are willing to challenge Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb’s opposition to the proposals.
