Traffic Stop Leads To Fight With Police, Trip To Jail

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Around 9:15 Wednesday night Indiana State Police Trooper Justin Bell made a traffic stop, near 8th Avenue in Terre Haute.

The driver, 36 year old Rebecca Pryor, of Terre Haute, was wanted on an active warrant our to Vermillion County for Invasion of privacy.

During the arrest Pryor tried to punch and bite Trooper Bell.

She fled on foot to a nearby box trailer and wrapped both her arms and legs around the hitch of the trailer.

Trooper Rondell Shelton arrived and Pryor tried to kick him twice in the chest. 

She was then taken to a local hospital and cleared to be taken to jail.

Pryor then tried to escape the police car on her way to jail and had to be taken in the sheriff’s department transport van.

At the jail Pryor assaulted the jail staff.

No law enforcement officers were hurt.

She is facing multiple charges and will appear in court next Tuesday (1/29/19).
