Theft Investigation Leads To Two Arrests

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Vermillion County Police say that on Friday February 8, they were called to a theft report at Tractor Supply in Clinton.  Deputies were told of a person entering the property around 12:30 A.M.  That person stole a Cub Cadet snow blower.  Deputies obtained video and other evidence from the scene.

A few hours later deputies were called to Walmart on the report of a burglary that occurred around 5:30 A.M.  Walmart had video of a vehicle entering the property and driving around to the back of the store.  A large amount of used batteries were reported missing.  Deputies obtained video of the vehicle.  Deputies contacted local scrap yards and asked that they be on the lookout for the vehicle and batteries.

On Monday February 11 the sheriff’s office received a call that the suspects were at a local scrap yard.  Deputies arrived and located 29 used batteries and the truck from the video.

Joshua Baugh from Terre Haute was arrested for possession of meth and paraphernalia.  Baugh is being held in the Parke County Jail.  The other occupant was released.

On Thursday February 14, 2019 deputies from Parke and Vermillion County received information that a suspect, 50-year-old Dennis D. Baugh was involved in the theft of the batteries and snow blower.  Vermillion County Deputies obtained a search warrant for Baugh’s residence in Terre Haute.

Terre Haute City Police and Indiana State Police along with Vermillion County officers arrested Dennis Baugh at the residence.

Baugh faces charges of Burglary (level 5 felony) and theft (level 6 felony).  Baugh is being held in the Vermillion County Jail with bond set at $15,000 with ten percent allowed.
