INDIANAPOLIS, Ind – State Rep. Alan Morrison (R-Brazil) honored Staunton Elementary School for being a 2018 Blue Ribbon School Award recipient.

According to Morrison, the Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools that are either high performing or have improved student achievement to high levels, especially among disadvantaged students.

“Earning a Blue Ribbon Award is not an easy task,” Morrison said. “It takes everyone working together to create the positive environment needed to encourage student success. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers and administration to setting high academic standards and closing achievement gaps.”

The Indiana Blue Ribbon program is part of a larger United States Department of Education effort to identify and spread the word about good school leadership and school practices. Each year since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education has sought out schools where students attain and maintain high academic goals, including those that beat the odds.
