Police Receive Call About “Highly Intoxicated” Man

CLINTON, Ind – Wednesday evening around 7:00 p.m. Vermillion County Police were called to the Corner Stop Gas Station in Clinton on the report of a highly intoxicated man sitting in a mini-van on the parking lot.

Police say that the van left but was found a short time later and was stopped after nearly crashing.

The driver was identified as 50-year-old James E. McDowell III formerly of Terre Haute.

The person who called police was correct, McDowell was highly intoxicated as he had a BAC of .21%. Legally drunk is .08%.

McDowell was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Driving while suspended.
