TERRE HAUTE, Ind  – Thursday night the Terre Haute City Council approved a funding plan for a new convention center.

The approval by the city council means the city is officially committing to ten million dollars in funding for the project.

Earlier this week, Vigo County Commissioners approved the funding plan. It’s an agreement between the Capital Improvement Board, the city, county and Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Officials expect to break ground in late May or early June.

The hope is that the convention center will draw more people and more money to Terre Haute.
