Lawmakers Return To Springfield With Five Weeks Before They Are Set To Adjourn

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.  — The Illinois General Assembly is in its final weeks for this session.

Lawmakers return to Springfield today with an ambitious agenda and just five weeks for they are scheduled to adjourn on May 31st.

Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker is in his first legislative session and has asked for some big changes including approval of a constitutional amendment to create a graduated income tax system.

He also wants to legalize recreational marijuana use and sports betting.
