Terre Haute, Ind – For the first time in over 100 years, Clabber Girl has a new owner.

It was announced Wednesday that Clabber Girl operations, which, has been a Terre Haute fixture since 1899 has been sold B&G Foods Inc.

B&G which is based in New Jersey, manufactures and distributes several food products including Cream of Wheat, Green Giant, Ortega, SnackWell’s, Mrs. Dash and many others.

B&G says that the 180 employees at Clabber Girl’s facility at Ninth Street and Wabash Avenue, as well as the Terre Haute community, shouldn’t notice any major changes in day-to-day activities.

Officials also say that the Clabber Girl Museum featuring Hulman family relics and photographs will remain as-is downtown.

Paperwork filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission shows that B&G paid $80 million for Clabber Girl and expects Clabber Girl will generate $70 million to $75 million of net sales annually.

The Hulman family said that they intend to focus more on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar racing.

Hulman Company officials said that this sale largely ends the Hulman family’s 150-plus years of business activity in Terre Haute, and cuts the company down to just racing.
