Vigo County Teen To Appear In Court For His Part In Fatal Crash

TERRE HAUTE, Ind – A Terre Haute teen will be in court today for his part in a fatal crash.

A plea agreement calls for 16 year old Bryce Swtizer-Couthen to face a charged with reckless homicide, criminal recklessness.

Swtizer-Couthen, was the driver in a February 14th crash that killed 17 year old Jenna Perrelle who was  a junior at Terre Haute South Vigo High School.

The accident happened near the intersection of Curry Drive and Sullivan Place in southern Vigo County.

Police said that Swtizer-Couthen was driving at an unreasonable high rate of speed

The prosecution recommends Switzer-Couthen be sentenced to a juvenile department of corrections facility for 300 days on each count, and be placed in probation until he turns 19.

Three other teens that were passengers in the vehicle were ejected.

Perrelle was not ejected and was pinned under the vehicle.

She suffered a head injury.

Court officials have granted public access to this juvenile case due to the nature of the case.
