Vigo County Computers Almost Back To Normal

VIGO COUNTY, IndVigo County government computers are nearly back to normal after a ransomware attack.

The attack came on July 23 through a computer in the Vigo County Superior Courts.

The virus likely came through an email.

Computers in LaPorte County occurred July 6th and the county paid $132,000 to hackers after ransomware shut down part of the county’s computer system.

Vigo County’s information technology personnel are now sending analytical information to the FBI to help in the investigation.

Vigo County has not paid a ransome to anyone and most all data has been saved through off site backup.

Repairs should be completed next week.
