Cause Of Death Revealed For 10 Year Old Indiana Girl

GAS CITY, Ind. — A coroner has confirmed the cause of death for a 10-year-old girl found dead Wednesday in Gas City.

Skylea Carmack was strangled to death, according to Dr. Scott Wagner of the Fort Wayne Forensic Examination Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Skylea was reported missing Saturday. Police found her body Wednesday in a plastic trash bag inside a shed at her home.

Amanda Carmack, Skylea’s stepmother, has been arrested for murder. She is in the Grant County Jail on charges including murder, neglect of a dependent, strangulation, and domestic battery.

Six other children have been removed from the Carmack home by the Indiana Department of Child Services.
