Carmel Man Will Try To Set World Record On Roundabout

CARMEL, Ind. — A Noblesville man will attempt to break a world record, beginning Friday night.

It might make you dizzy just thinking about it.

Dave Schweikert will try to go the farthest distance on a bike, in a roundabout, in 24 hours.

“I did a 24-hour ride to southern Indiana earlier this year, so I know I can do 24,” he told WISH-TV. “But doing it in laps, doing the same thing over and over is going to be something new, and that’s part of the challenge.”

Riding his bike for a long time or a long distance isn’t anything new to Schweikert — he commutes 50 miles round-trip every day for work.

His attempt at breaking the record is all for a good cause, too. Schweikert is raising funds for World Bicycle Relief in Africa.

“It helps teachers, healthcare workers and students, so they can travel long distances — something we can’t really relate to here,” he said.

Schweikert will try to break the record using the roundabout at River Road and Main Street in Carmel, starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, and going until 7 p.m. on Saturday.
