TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – More information has been released in an overnight fatal fire.

Firefighters were called out around 12:30 a.m. to a home at 2945 Fort Harrison Road.

Investigators say that 76-year-old Vernon Matlock was smoking next to an oxygen tank when the fire started.

It is believed that Matlock told his daughter to go get water to put the fire out but it had spread by the time she returned.

She ran to go get help.

Autopsy results show that Matlock had a heart attack during the fire and the cause of death has been ruled as heart disease.
