Three Arrested After Wednesday Crash At Mini-Mart

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department has released more information about a Wednesday evening crash at a local mini-mart.

Police they were called about a driver leaving the scene of a crash.

They caught up with the suspects SUV near Springhill and Erie Canal Streets but had to call of the chase due to safety concerns.

A short time later officers were called to the Maui‘s Stop and Shop at 7th and Springhill when a vehicle crashed into the gas pumps.

Witnesses told police the three people inside the crashed vehicle ran on foot.

Police said they later found the three hiding behind a doctor’s office on Springhill Road.

They were identified as 26 year old Katie Cheesman, 23 year old Kellsey Keyt, and 21 year old Candace Jones hiding behind a doctor’s office on Springhill.

Jones reportedly told police Cheesman was driving the van. Cheeseman reportedly told police she ‘shot up’ with meth and took Xanax earlier in the day.

All three were booked into the Vigo County Jail after being treated at a local hospital.

Cheesman was charged with resisting, leaving the scene of a crash, and operating while intoxicated.

Jones and Keyt were charged with resisting law enforcement and leaving the scene of a crash.
