SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind.  – The Bear Run Mine in Sullivan County has announced it is laying off 7% of its workforce. That amounts to 35 jobs.

A representative with the company told News 10 that they adjusted the workforce numbers to line up with expected production volumes.

Bear Run Mine is operated by Peabody Energy and sold approximately 6.9 million tons of coal to customers in 2018.  The company website says that there are 540 employees at the mine.
