Bicyclist Unable Evade State Trooper

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind –  Sunday evening 12/22/19) around 6:45 p.m., Indiana State Trooper Andrew Mattern spotted a bicyclist traveling in the middle of the roadway, near State Street and Harris Street in Sullivan, with no lights.

The Trooper tried to stop the rider who thought he could out run the Trooper and his State Police car.

53 year old Keith Krentkowski of Sullivan ignored the Trooper and pedaled faster, attempting to flee by traveling through the city blocks and alleyways.

Trooper Mattern got out of his patrol car and chased Krentkowski on foot.

Krentkowski eventually discarded the bicycle, and fled on foot to a back door of a residence, where he was arrested.

Police say that Krentkowski had methamphetamine and paraphernalia in his jacket pocket.  He was taken into custody and taken to the Sullivan County Jail.

Krentkowski is being held on charges of :

  • Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 6 Felony
  • Resisting Law Enforcement (2 counts), Class A Misdemeanor
  • Possession of Paraphernalia, Class A Misdemeanor
