Sunday Crash Sends Two To Hospital

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind – Sunday afternoon (12/29/19) around 5:10 p.m.  first responders were called to a two vehicle accident at S.R. 63 and Hazel Bluff Road.

Vermillion County Sheriff Mike Phelps reports that when emergency personnel arrived on scene they found a Dodge Caravan sitting sideways in the middle of the intersection and a Toyota Prius in the ditch on the north-west side of the intersection.

Vermillion County Deputies say that the Prius was traveling north on S.R. 63 and the Caravan was traveling west on Hazel Bluff.  The vehicle’s collided in the north bound lanes.  The Dodge Caravan came to rest in the middle of the intersection and the Prius went across the south bound lanes and into the ditch.   All lanes of S.R. 63 were shut down for approximately 1 hour.

The Prius was being driven by 76 year old Walter Gilonske of Potomac, IL.  He was taken to Regional Hospital for unknown injuries.  73 year old Shirley Gilonske also from, Potomac had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to Regional Hospital with unknown injuries.

The Dodge Caravan was being driven by 25 year old Kristina Lientz from Clinton.  She refused treatment for both of her small children and herself.
