Terre Haute Council Elects Officers, Approves Pyrolyx Bond

TERRE HAUTE, Ind – The Terre Haute City Council held its first meeting of the new year on Thursday night (1/2/20).

The council unanimously approved the issuance of bonds for an expansion of Pyrolyx USA’s solid waste recycling plant.  The company is adding a second $52 million facility which means about 50 new jobs and an additional payroll $2.5 million.

The company extracts carbon black, oil and metal from waste tires to produce raw materials for the rubber and plastics industries.

The council also elected officers for 2020.

Council member George Azar was elected president, Earl Elliott, was elected vice president.

With nothing on the agenda for next week’s meeting on January 9th, the council agreed not have a second meeting this month.
