VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon the Sugar Creek Fire Department water rescue team was called to Green Valley about a man in the water.

That man managed to swim to shore before first responders arrived.

The man told fire crews that he ended up in the water for around 10 minutes and then swam to the closet shore. The motor fell off his boat causing him to fall into the water.

He suffered only minor injuries.

Officials say that he was not wearing a life jacket.
