ILLINOIS – The historic Darwin Ferry was swept away and capsized Saturday on the Wabash River.

The Darwin Ferry has been in service since 1818.

Flood waters swept the ferry about a mile down stream from where it is supposed to be.

It is not clear what will become of the ferry until flood waters recede.
