INDIANAPOLIS – Five students from Turkey Run Elementary and Parke Heritage Middle School were honored at the Indiana Statehouse on Monday (2/10/20) by a joint resolution of the Indiana state legislature.

Being recognized were Logan Bowles, Dylan Lamb, Brayton Myers, Gavin Smith and Legend Smith.

Near the end of the afternoon bus route on January 6, North Central Parke bus driver Sandy Woolwine had a medical emergency with these five on the bus. She managed to pull over and park the bus, and then she collapsed. These young men held it together, called 911, and comforted her until emergency crews arrived.

“Unfortunately, Sandy passed away, but the heroic deeds of these students will never be forgotten,” said Mr. Scott Schulz, middle school principal.

The students were recognized for keeping their calm, making the emergency call, assisting the medical crew with information and comforting Sandy. Senate Concurrent Resolution 26 was authored by Sen. Philip Boots and sponsored by Rep. Beau Baird and Rep. Alan Morrison.

The Resolution states:
